Burt and Kurt have been partners for a long time...since 1974. They first teamed up in Jackson, Mississippi. Burt did the morning show on top-rated WJDX. Kurt was doing TV news and working on his law degree when Burt asked Kurt and his many character voices to become a part of the show. The chemistry was instant and the duo gained national attention and unparalleled ratings success almost overnight.
The legendary duo has worked at radio stations in Tampa, FL, Houston, TX, and Birmingham, AL.
Unlike so many other shows Burt & Kurt have refused to give into the "edgy/controversial" programming that is so prevalent today. Burt and Kurt have built a career on "good, clean, fun" in the morning. Heavy on topical information with a mega-dose of laughter, Burt and Kurt rely on an impressive arsenal of talent, wit, and wisdom. Their "family-friendly" approach enhances the good image of their quality advertisers.
Burt and Kurt are a heritage morning show....part of the Birmingham radio landscape since the early 80s. They've built a loyal following who appreciate their warmth and side-splitting humor.

Charlie Martin makes work-days better
Charlie Martin grew up in Birmingham and has lived and worked in the area most of his life. His love of the medium led him to Birmingham radio in the late 1970s where he worked as part of the team that put KICKS-106 on the air in 1977.
Charlie has worked at various Birmingham radio stations including WZZK and WMJJ. Now part of the 101 crew from 10 AM until 2 PM, Charlie brings his experience and his love for the music.
Charlie says, "It's a thrill to play the fabulous music mix on 101 and a joy to work with a group of great professionals who love this music as much as I do.
You should hear the positive comments about our radio station. Listeners are getting what we're trying to accomplish. I believe that we've hit a real void in Birmingham radio."

Shane Wilson takes you home
Shane is a 13 year veteran in radio, including 5 years in Birmingham with the Clear Channel cluster......primarily Magic 96 and various incarnations of 102.5.
Shane writes, "I'm having the time of my life playing the Greatest Hits of All Time on the New 101.1 WYDE each afternoon. Putting a smile on your face each day is my goal!
I was born in Nashville, Tennessee and raised in Glencoe, Alabama. That's right outside of Gadsden. We had a few red lights, but McDonald's didn't show up until after I moved away for good. Story of my life. Since then, my life has been spent up and down I-59. There was college at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and stops at radio stations in Gadsden, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham. In my spare time (what is that?), I like to travel. I'm also a sports nut and a fan of America's Teams.....the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Atlanta Braves, and the Dallas Cowboys. My love of pop culture (TV, movies, music) should be obvious. Just listen each weekday between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to put two and two together there!?"

Mark McCarty has just the right mix for your night time
The WYDE air staff is made up of a team of experienced air personalities. Mark McCarty has also worked at the top stations locally and brings a wealth of valuable experience to the table.
In addition to his 7 to midnight air shift, Mark McCarty also serves as the staff movie buff and computer goob.
Each weekday night Mark plays the best mix of classic hits on the radio and highlights it with some of the more compelling stories of the day.
Mark writes, "People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. I'm probably the biggest geek on the station.
I'm a huge movie fan so when I'm not at the station, I can be found digging in the sofa for money to get popcorn at the movie theater (extra butter...YUMMMMMM!) I'm also into computers, Muppets, and pretty much anything else that would get me made fun of in any junior high school in the country.
I'm either married or there is a woman that won't stop breaking into my house and doesn't seem to mind that I keep coming home and catching her in the act. Either way, she makes a mean quesadilla!"
